Maximum Mowing: The Porsche 911 Lawn Tractor

Most of the time our crack team of spy shooters is crisscrossing the globe in search of undiscovered automotive treasures, but it seems that hunt doesn’t occupy all of their time.

Our loyal man over at CarPix sent over these images of his friend’s well-modified garden tractor, one that has a distinct Porsche theme. This 911-inspired mower has got small but thoughtful touches like a tachometer housed in an old Porsche oil filter, a free-breathing exhaust, and a fire-extinguisher in case things get a little out of hand in the backyard.

There’s no word about whether the small tractor is any faster than a normally equipped one, but it definitely will grab the neighbour’s attention. Schneller!

Here are some shots of a little toy that a friend of mine made.

Painted in Grand-Prix Weiss with Indischrot details and wheels. Notice the rpm-meter made of an old oil filter from a 911, and the hmm….bigger exhaust pipe. And of course, the fire extinguisher.

With this machine it will be more fun to work in the garden. This is a must for every Porsche fan and it’s so cool.

The Ten Worst Non-Automotive Product Tie-Ins With Automotive Brands [Ten Non-Automotive Product Automotive Tie-Ins] (Jalopnik)
The Porsche-branded kitchen earlier this week reminded us that automotive marketing gurus like to use their considerable name equity to brand products having nothing to do with cars. While sometimes this can help increase brand identity with the masses, here’s our list of the ten auto-branded products which decrease brand equity and dilute brand stature. 10. Jeep Stroller Though parents haven’t been buying Chrysler vehicles as quickly as the company may like, they love those Jeep-branded strollers. With a reputation for toughness, the baby-moving business isn’t a huge stretch for the brand. If they could get as many families into Jeep Commanders as they could into Jeep Commander Strollers the company might be in better shape. [ JeepWorld ] 9. Renault F1 Backgammon Set In addition to branding special-edition cars, like the Renaultsport 197 Clio , the Renault F1 team has spread into the fast-paced world of table gaming. Made of real Formula One materials like carbon fiber, sterling silver and F1-style glass laminate, the Renault backgammon set is quite fetching. Even more impressive than the board’s careful design is the set’s $27,000 price. 8. Hummer Drinking Glasses When we think about the current plight of the Hummer brand, we suddenly think we want a stiff drink. That’s why we’re glad HUMMER offers officially licensed drinking glasses, large enough for a few ice cubes and a few ounces of Wild Turkey. And while drinking alcohol and driving cars are two hobbies we think should be kept separate, Hummer offers them on their special branding website along with Hummer golf balls and Hummer spare-tire covers. At just $21.95, it’s just the fraction of a cost of a fill-up. [ Hummer Stuff ] 7. Ducati Flash Drive Why is there a Ducati Flash Drive ? Because Harley doesn’t think their buyers know how to use a computer. In addition to looking a lot like a Ducati bike, the flash drive achieves a 20MB read/write speed, making it the fastest consumer drive offered by SanDisk. Oh, and there’s a special lanyard! 6. Mini Cooper Luggage Automaker-branded luggage isn’t unique because associating your brand with all forms of travel is an easy connection. But we have to give extra credit to Mini for their branded luggage , which is not only small but also features more than just a “Mini” emblem. The lining of the bags are in the style of a Union Jack flag, and the rolling wheels look like Mini wheels. A Cooper-esque laptop bag is also smart branding given that every other Mini owner also has a MacBook. 5. Porsche Gaming Gear The Porsche gaming wheel is sure to capture the hearts and minds of those aspiring for a supercar when they move out of the room over their parent’s garage. The shifter looks great and it’s a lot closer to being auto-related than most useless Porsche-branded products. 4. Asus Lamborghini Smartphone Any automaker can brand a phone, but props to Lamborghini for branding one killer smartphone . Quad-band GSM? Check. Tri-band WCDMA? Check. GPRS and Edge? Check. Real GPS? Check. Most Lamborghini owners won’t know what any of that means, but Lamborghini has successfully positioned itself as a brand always at the extreme. 3. Bugatti Cologne If you’re willing to spend $1.3 million on a supercar, should it be that much of a stretch to spend about $2,750 on a cologne? If you can’t afford a Bugatti, at the very least you can smell like one. Delivered with a special holder in a carbon fiber briefcase, the Bugatti cologne is audacious in way that only such an exclusive automaker could pull off. [ YouTube ] 2. Ferrari Segway There’s a risk to lending your name to a different form of transportation, but when you’re Ferrari and said product is a gyroscopically controlled Ferrari Segway scooter you have a perfect gift for the Ferrari owner who can afford anything. While the Ferrari Segway doesn’t go any faster and still costs $12,000, it’s got that great red paint job and says to other Segway users that you’re willing to go the extra mile to prove you’ve got money to burn. 1. NASCAR Brand Meat Snacks If you asked the average NASCAR fan what they loved most they’d probably say “stock car racing.” If you asked them the thing they loved second most was, it would probably be prepackaged meat products. Whether it’s a hot dog or a burger, NASCAR meat is the ultimate non-automotive auto tie-in. And, to cap off the unparalleled achievement of finally bridging the gap between pork products and oval track racing, the marketing geniuses behind this grabbed the slogan “Taste The Excitement.” It’s just so…beautiful. Filed under: In the Autoblog Garage , Sports/GTs , Porsche Click above for high-res gallery of the Porsche Carrera S As we approach the 45th birthday of the Porsche 911 and the dawn of yet another generation, we’ve finally managed to snag one in the Autoblog Garage for a full review. The 911 is the most direct descendant of the very earliest sports cars to wear that legendary German automotive name. It still uses the same basic layout as the first Porsche, the 356 (except for prototype No.1, which was mid-engined) with a horizontally opposed engine hanging out behind the rear axle. Of course, the 911 has two more cylinders now, and these days the engines are cooled by liquid rather then air, but the basic premise remains. Even though the 911 has gone through five generations, with another refresh for 2009 arriving momentarily, it remains instantly recognizable as what it is. Even with what some may consider an archaic drivetrain layout, the 2008 Porsche Carrera S remains one of the finest sports cars in the world. Next Generation Porsche 911 Spied!

While Porsche has just finished launching its new 911, the car is really more of a half step between true generational changes for the seminal sports car. So with the 997.5 911 heading out to customers, the German automaker has unleashed the very first stages of its test program for the next car, the 998 model 911.

The Porsche faithful will be unsurprised (and no doubt a bit relieved) to see that the 998 seems at first blush to be another tiny step in the glacial visual evolution that is 911 design. We can make out a set of more robustly blistered fenders, hinting at a slightly wider track, but not a lot else at this point to differentiate the car from its 997 older brother. Expect more and further visual changes as the spy shots continue to roll in, before the car makes its expected debut in 2011.

Scroll down to read the shooter’s own words.

The 997 facelift has just been official, and that was the sign that the test crew from Porsche where waiting for. Now they can concentrate them self in testing the next generation 911, probably named 998.

Here are the first photos of that early test mule. We can clearly see the wider fenders on this prototype indicating that the car at least seems to be wider, length still looks the same. But we have to remember, this is still an very early mule and a lot can change until 2011 when the 998 is expecting to hit the showrooms

Porsche Slowly Taking Over of Volkswagen

Second Coming: The 2007 Porsche Boxster -

The increase of Porsche?s stake from 27.3 percent to 30.9 percent at Volkswagen gives the German sports car manufacturer the right to a takeover bid as required by the German law.

Luckily for Porsche, Volkswagen shares dropped by 4 percent to 113.21 euros ($150.91) in Frankfurt on Monday afternoon while the German sports car maker?s share rose by 0.7 percent to 1,123 euros ($1,497). And as expected of Porsche is has cleverly made the minimum offering legally allowed of 109.20 euros (145.60) for each common share and 63 euros ($84) for each preferred share.

Porsche has already expected it that few investors would agree on their offered price. After the takeover bid is complete it is probable that Porsche will continue to increase its stakes in Volkswagen surpassing its present owned shares of 30.9 percent. However, if it plans to make another bid for VW it will have to exceed 50 percent stakes.

What Porsche has done can be considered a creative way of going around the German corporate law but it did not do it simply because it wants to gain control of Volkswagen. Believe it or not the German sports car maker just wants to protect Europe?s largest automaker from any untoward takeover by hostile foreign investors. And with the 30.9 percent owned stake of Porsche combined with the 20.26 percent owned shares of Lower Saxony totaling to 51.4 percent of shares at Volkswagen makes these two shareholders more effective in protecting the company from any investors who may want to take control of the Wolfsburg-based automaker.

Aside from protecting Volkswagen, Lower Saxony has also assured that the jobs of tens of thousands of its residents who worked for VW are safe. Porsche on the other hand, secures an essential source of technology in which it has the power to control costs. Like for instance the chassis used for Porsche Cayenne down to say VW spark plug wires that are used for the mid-size luxury sports utility vehicle are developed in partnership with Volkswagen.

Volkswagen said in a statement that it welcomed the step by Porsche to increase its take and explained that a ?stable shareholder structure? is vital to the continuous success of the company. According to one unnamed source inside Volkswagen, ?We are protected against further other approaches maybe by other investors which could break up the company.?

Analysts are also expecting for Porsche to gradually increase its stake in Volkswagen over the next few years in line with the goals of Porsche?s main shareholder and chairman, Ferdinand Piech.

Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia in Detail

Porsche to Increase Stakes in Volkswagen -

Porsche AG has released the rally racing version of its popular Cayenne mid size luxury SUV. Named as the Cayenne S Transsyberia, the German automaker said the Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia “is a car tailored specifically to the requirements of long distance rally racing” and “has been modified on a number of points enhancing both safety and the car’s racing performance.”

Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia retains the bold, aggressive, and rugged body styling of the Porsche Cayenne S base model, with new features that adapts into the world of rally racing. Two exterior color options are available: Basalt Black Metallic and Chrystal Silver Metallic. The overall body appearance is highlighted by the vehicle’s aerodynamic parts and other exterior auto parts including extra large air intake scoops, roof spoiler with a double-wing profile mounted on the tail gate, stainless steel front air dams, stainless steel rear air dams, and 18inch ?Cayenne S II? light-alloy wheels and the rim hubs are finished in orange color.

In addition, the exterior side view mirrors, the rear wing, wheel rims, left and right air intake, and the additional headlights for the Cayenne S Transsyberia are also finished in orange color. Moreover, the Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia also comes with extra four headlights mounted on the roof to provide additional lighting when taking on different terrains. The orange colored stripes on the side with the name “Cayenne S Transsyberia 2007″ complete the vehicle’s exclusivity.

Moving inside, the Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia comes with a standard navigation system. This special Cayenne S model retains some of its interior features, but the glove compartment has been replaced with a Tripmaster computer. The typical foot operated brake on the Cayenne S is also replaced with a hand brake. The rally team aboard this special edition model can use the 20 liter luggage space and two transport boxes for their tools. The Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia also comes with safety features to give both the driver and passenger an effective protection against injuries. The Cayenne S Transsyberia comes with air bag system and a safety cage that complies with the standards of the FIA Motorsport Authority. In addition, Porsche AG said: “To set off the extra weight of the safety cage and rally equipment, and to further lower the vehicle’s centre of gravity, the rear seat bench, interior body panels and cound proofing material have all been removed from the car.”

The and suspension system on the Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia has been modified to cope up with the most extreme terrains like rough and rocky surfaces as well as muddy tracks. The German automaker also installed their patented Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). These two systems works in conjunction with the air suspension to provide vehicle dynamics and further enhance the vehicle’s traction. Moreover, PDCC features a Special Offroad Mode that gives the Cayenne S Transsyberia 75 cm of maximum depth when crossing rivers or streams.

Powering the Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia is a 4.8-liter V8 engine capable of delivering 385 bhp (283kW) at 6200 rpm. The engine comes with a direct gasoline injection system, and can be able to run on 25 percent ethanol fuel mixed with gasoline. This feature gives the Cayenne S Transsyberia lower fuel consumption by about 15 percent compared to the base Cayenne S model. A six-speed automatic transmission powering the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) permanent all wheel drive system completes the vehicle’s powertrain package. The vehicle also comes with quality cooling system, which also features water pump like the Jeep Wrangler off-road model with quality Jeep water pump.

VW Parts Make GTi the People’s Porsche

Porsche: Refuse to be Defeated by Ford, Holden -

The Volkswagen GTi was introduced in 1976 as the high-performance variety of the German automaker?s VW Golf. It was among the first in the compact cars class to use a fuel injection system. With the then world standard in sports car technology fitted on the VW GTi, the car was nevertheless kept within the buying power of most people and consequently became known as the People?s Porsche.

Considered the progenitor of the hatchback genre, the VW GTi is credited for making the VW Golf the company?s bestseller. As of 2006, the sports compact version of the VW Golf has undergone a total of five style and trim improvements. The current VW GTi generation is billed as the most-improved VW GTi make, a return to form of Volkswagen?s first successful sports compact car.

Equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine and a fuel stratified injection technology, the Volkswagen GTi boasts of a 200 bhp standard performance. The remarkable power competence of the VW GTi is kept in a tight rein through a 6-speed manual transmission. The GTi is made more dexterous with the introduction of a direct shift gearbox transmission system.

All VW GTi makes are available in either a 3- or 5-door hatchback body style. VW GTi parts that come in optional trims include power sunroof, racing-inspired steering wheel, supplemental grab handles, and an anti-lock braking system on its 4-wheel disc lock brakes. These VW GTi parts are not included in the stock features of the VW GTi, yet are not a drawback on the performance of the car. These VW GTi parts are often customizable items used to furnish the car with a distinct look and feature. Installing these Volkswagen parts basically depends on the driving style of the owner.

Aside from a performance-tuned engine and aerodynamics body style, the suspension setting of the VW GTi is considered another high point in the car?s engineering. Featuring a multilink control blade, the rear suspension assembly of the VW GTi is the acknowledged class bench benchmark for car handling and driving. Composed of a network of struts, sway bars, shocks, and links, the VW GTi suspension system parts are anchored on a wishbone arrangement suspension. Universally used on most race cars, the VW GTi suspension assembly parts give stability to the car in the face of hard and fast drive applications.

The suspension system of the VW GTi is to car handling what the fuel injection system is to performance. While the fuel injection system furnishes the VW GTi engine with more quality fuel materials, the suspension system equips the car with the stability that it needs to ride the car in comfort and ease. From engine to car suspension, it is the VW GTi parts installed on these assemblies that many consider to be the greater light in the GTi engineering.

Apparently, the competition is already worried about it all. The competition has also come out with some fast racecars and now Porsche is responding with a major channel check and raising the stakes. Porsche looks to school Ferrari this year and a few others as well on the track and this very much pleases Porsche owners World Wide.

Porsche?s new car has made the test of time with 12 hours at Sebring and one 24-hour session at another track. The 911 Street Version is very similar in design to the Carrera 4 but has wider rear fenders and sits lower to the ground. The wheels are two-inches wider for even better stability and with a little extra weight this helps the car sit nicely into its center of gravity.

The aerodynamic body is just about 6.5% more efficient and the ride is about 11% more stiff, but the handling is a noticeable difference. So, I thought you might like one in midnight blue or bright yellow. Meanwhile lets see how the race version does this year at 24-hour Daytona and 24 hours at Le Mans this coming season?

Porsche: Creating the Plot to Takeover Volkswagen?

Porsche Chayenne interior -

Porsche is known for producing small but immensely powerful engines. The same can be said about the company—small but powerful. Porsche is a German automaker renowned for its lines of sports car. News has it that the German sports car maker is getting closer to its goal which is to control Europe?s largest automaker, the Volkswagen Group. It should be noted that Porsche is one of the largest shareholders of Volkswagen with a total of 27.4% and is planning to further increase its stakes if not for the Volkswagen Law.

The Volkswagen Law limits the voting rights of shareholders in the company to 20% regardless of how large their owned shares are. Another provision on the VW law also gives the right to the State of Lower Saxony to appoint directors regardless of the fact that they are not the largest shareholder of the company. The VW Law is nothing but unfair to Porsche. This is also the very reason why Porsche would like the VW Law to be abolished.

The Volkswagen Law was ratified in 1960 during the time of privatization following the postwar. During that time Volkswagen was rescued by the allied and German authorities. The VW Law was created to protect the company from any form of takeover.

But currently the European Court of Justice has begun to criticize the VW Law stating that the law hinders the flow of free capital which increases the possibility for it being cancelled. Furthermore it is also expected that if ever the law is repealed the State of Lower Saxony might sell some or its entire 20.8% stakes in Volkswagen and the probable buyer is none other than Porsche.

Wedelin Weideking, Porsche boss has expressed his desire to increase the company?s stake in Volkswagen to 8.6 billion Euros or $11.2bn. But why does Porsche has such care for Volkswagen? Even before, Porsche has already have had a big influence at Volkswagen brought by the fact that part of Volkswagen takes its root from Ferdinand Piech, who is a member of the Porsche family. Piech was also the former CEO of Volkswagen and now hold the chair of the upper supervisory board. And recently, in the most cunning display of power and influence, Piech and Wiedeking have conspired to oust Bernd Pischetsrieder who is the former boss of BMW and VW CEO. He was replaced by Martin Winterkorn who is a prot?g? of Piech.

Piech has also previously worked at Porsche where he was responsible for the launching of the 917 racer. Afterwards he went to Audi and started the Quattro revolution. When finally became the CEO of VW he foster quality turnaround which helps VW and Audi to obtain a place in the premium car segment. He also introduced a platform strategy to control costs.

There is a strong partnership between Porsche and Volkswagen not only because of family but also of interest. Porsche wants to increase its stakes in Volkswagen to protect its investment and also to make sure that its ongoing cooperative efforts with Europe?s largest automaker will not be jeopardized. At present, the German sports car maker is sharing production facilities with Volkswagen. Europe?s largest is also the supplier of quality parts to Porsche like Volkswagen pressure plate and others that are used to build cars.

Some of the vehicles produced by Porsche in partnership with Volkswagen are Cayenne and Touareg SUVs. The upcoming Panamera sports sedan will have its body built at the VW?s Hanover plant and will use VW Audi electronic bus systems plus other parts such as safety electronics, infotainment, security and climate detecting gadgets.

But according to some reports the interest of Porsche to Volkswagen goes beyond pure business interest - some say that Wiedeking thinks that he can do a much better job than any of the bosses in VW. The ousting of Pischetsrieder is seen by many as a means of slowly taking control of Volkswagen. It is not going to be surprising if one day Porsche will really take over Volkswagen.

Growing up with three brothers, Natalie Anderson became exposed early to the world of automobiles. This 29-year-old account manager now dreams of having her very own top-of-the-line vintage car. Porsche 911 Performs Best Over Others

Porsche Obtained Net Profit for First Half of 2007 -

Consumer Reports has tested the vehicles that it has purchased. And they are checking the range of expensive machines. And what they found out was that the Porsche 911 took earned the right to be called one of the best vehicles there is in the market. In fact, it topped the list of vehicles of Consumer Reports’ list of high performance sports vehicles and cars.

David Champion is the senior director of the Auto Test Center of Consumer Reports. He even assesses the Porsche 911 by saying, “The 911 wowed us enough with its acceleration, handling, and braking for us to rate it our top sports car. The 911 is also easy to drive, but its much less expensive Boxster sibling performed almost as well.”

The automotive magazine tested the Porsche 911 in all its Porsche car parts glory against other high class and high performance vehicles like the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the Dodge Viper. Aside from these two, the Porsche 911 competed eleven other performance vehicles that are currently available in the market. The vehicles went through a series of tests so as to see who performed best and who topped all others as a luxury sports car.

You certainly would not believe the kind of prices these vehicles hold. The cheapest in the lot is the Lotus Elise that can be purchased in the market for $45,545 while the most expensive machine tested by the auto magazine was a Mercedes Benz SL550 vehicle that could cost you $105,855.

All these vehicles had to go through tests that would give Consumer Reports data on who should be declared the best among the lot. The vehicles had to go through public roads. They also were driven through the Consumer Report test track facility which is located in Connecticut. The vehicles also had been tried using various tests like one for high speed maneuvering as well as braking and cornering while driving at high speeds.

The criteria included various angles of checking an automobile. Aside from those mentioned, Consumer Reports also included areas like safety, acceleration, trunk space, comfort, and convenience.

Porsche opens up the new 911 Targa 4 & Targa 4S (Autoblog)

Porsche Or Ferrari? -

Porsche opens up the new 911 Targa 4 & Targa 4S (Autoblog)
Filed under: Convertibles , Sports/GTs , Porsche Click for a hi-res gallery of the new Porsche 911 Targa 4S Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. That seems to be the motto of the newest iteration of the latest generation of the Porsche 911. The new 911 Targa is available exclusively with all-wheel-drive, in either Targa 4 or Targa 4S guise, bearing the 911 Turbo-derived electronic four-wheel-drive system that replaces the viscous mechanical system on the previous generation , and coupled to Stuttgart’s new PDK dual-clutch transmission. What sets the Targa model apart, though, is its sixteen-and-a-half-square-foot glass sliding roof, specially treated to filter out UV rays that can be opened in just seven seconds to let the air in. Sale of the new model in the United States will begin in October, just as the sunshine’s going away (depending on where you live) with list prices of $89,500 and $100,100 respectively. Check out the press release after the jump for more info, and the images in the gallery below for more angles. EU grants Porsche permission to purchase VW (Autoblog)
Filed under: Euro , Government/Legal , Porsche , Volkswagen , Earnings/Financials Porsche is one step closer to its goal of purchasing Volkswagen. Back in April of last year, the German automaker passed the 30-percent mark, forcing it to make an outright offer for The Volkswagen Group in its entirety, which it did . Not too many VW shareholders sold their stake to Porsche, as the bid was for the bare minimum amount allowed by law. Still, the legal requirement had been met, allowing Porsche to continue gobbling up the automaker according to its own timetable. Earlier this year, the VeeDub board approved a request by Porsche to obtain 51-percent of the company for some $15.73 billion, which would give it a majority stake. Before the house that Ferdinand built could complete its acquisition, the European Commission required it to make one last purchase, which took place in June of this year. Finally, the EU has granted its permission for the buyout. This story is likely far from over, as the German State of Lower Saxony still claims a 20-percent stake in Volkswagen, which gives it certain rights to block decisions made by VW’s new parents. Still, it seems that its only a matter of time before VW and Porsche are united under a different Ferdinand … Piech that is, grandson to Mr. Porsche himself. Porsche 911 to Get Direct-Injection Engine; Dual-Clutch Option

porsche-911-direct-injectionhl.jpg

Weissach Breaths Directly

It’s easy to believe that the 3.6- and 3.8-liter Porsche flat sixes are beyond reproach. But we’ve been waiting for Weissach to create direct-injection for the 911 – now it’s here.

Get your brain into tech mode, kids.

The engineers at Porsche AG are seizing upon the imminent introduction of the mid-life 997 911 Carrera and Carrera S coupe and cabriolet to evolve the company technology portfolio – and in big fashion. Beneath the always tentative minor tweaks to the exterior look of this sports car icon, the boffins have brought direct injection to the two Porsche 911 motors. Not only this, but they’ve updated and finally implemented their Porsche Doppel Kupplung twin-clutch transmission for major series production.

That Porsche introduced its direct injection first in the new 4.8-liter V8 of the Cayenne is no major surprise since doing so on a fairly traditional configuration was easier than for the oddball flat-sixes. But both the 3.6- and 3.8-liter are done at last and stratified direct injection once again results in more power and torque, greater fuel efficiency, and lower CO2 spewage. In this case as well, there are fewer individual components on the completely overhauled engines and the coinciding development of the PDK seven-speed transmission is bringing out the very best in either six-cylinder.

Regarding the direct injection itself, it is not a revolutionary spanking new approach, but applying it to a flat engine in a very confining engine bay is rather revolutionary. The injector for each cylinder sits in between the two intake valves and spurts fuel into the combustion chamber at up to 120 bar pressure depending on throttle load and current rev count. Below 3500 rpm and/or when the engine is cold, to avoid fuel losses, when the throttle is at or near the floor the injectors are ordered into tiny multi-spurt mode during only the intake stroke until things heat up sufficiently to guarantee a complete burn of a fuller spurt. Combustion in this case happens very late to help build heat quickly. Through all of this, the new shape of the piston crowns feeds the fuel swirled directly into the chamber directly toward the optimal points near the spark plugs. There is a slightly different idle sound happening now, as is to be expected with a new efficient burn.

Both engines in this development process have taken on modified dimensions to the combustion cylinder, ending up with 3614cc for the 3.6 (was 3596cc) and 3800cc for the 3.8 (was 3824cc). Bore and stroke measurements for the 3.6-liter motor have changed from the former 96 x 82.8mm to 97 x 81.5mm, while the 3.8-liter goes from 99 x 82.8mm to a very altered 102 x 77.5mm. What these modifications reflect chiefly is the desire for a faster revving experience, and redline moves up to 7500 rpm on both powerplants from the former 7300-rpm ceiling.

Besides the new combustion chamber dimensions, there is an updated crankshaft, a new set of oil and water pumps, and the entire intake area has naturally been redesigned as no more pre-mixing of air and fuel needs to happen in the “waiting room

New 303 HP Porsche Cayman S Sport Leaks Onto Net [2010 Porsche Cayman S Sport] (Jalopnik)
The first photo we’ve seen of the upcoming 2010 Porsche Cayman S Sport has already made its way to the web, we’re assuming from the pages of some Euro buff book by way of a fan-forum and an enthusiast’s scanner. Details are still sketchy, but word has it the uprated Cayman will have eight extra horsepower, raising the total to 303, and feature the Porsche Active Stability Management system along with a suspension that sits about four tenths of an inch lower. The orange-and-black paint scheme in the pictured car appears vaguely reminiscent of the 911 GT3 RS, but we’ll have to wait and see if that’s the sole color offered or whether Porsche gives us additional hues from which to choose.
